Doulas
A doula is a trained professional who provides informational, educational, and emotional support to a woman and her family before, during, and after birth. A doula meets with you during your pregnancy to help you prepare for your birth. She then provides continuous labor support from the time you call her until 1-2 hours postpartum. Doulas also provide postpartum visits and basic breastfeeding support.

Each doula listed has slightly different services and fees. Please contact them directly for more information about their services.

La Leche League
The La Leche League International mission is to help mothers worldwide to breastfeed through mother-to-mother support, encouragement, information and education, and to promote a better understanding of breastfeeding as an important element in the healthy development of the baby and the mother.

For more information about La Leche League, please contact Lynn at (660)216-9279, email her at LynnBiberdorf@gmail.com or visit the La Leche League of Kirksville Website.

Whole Birth Prenatal Yoga
Because we can not think our way through labor, prenatal yoga is a perfect way to drop beneath the thinking mind and into the body/mind to prepare for birth. Whole Birth Yoga teaches us to listen deeply to and trust in our body's innate birthing wisdom. Yoga poses are taught with an emphasis on mindfulness for increasing breath and body awareness, learning pain management, prenatal bonding, deep relaxation and working with one's edges. Many of the common discomforts experienced during pregnancy are relieved through the practice of Whole Birth Yoga. Low back and sciatic pain, insomnia, and swelling have responded well to regular practice. In the Whole Birth Yoga class, ample time is given for support and the sharing of what's joyful and what's difficult about being pregnant. Discussion's are rich, genuine and informative.

For more information, please email Shana Stremel at stremeldidl@sbcglobal.net. You can also visit the Whole Birth Prenatal Yoga website at www.wholebirth.com
